FATAL:  could not create lock file "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432.lock": Permission denied

Symptoms:

NSM 2006.1 Installation fails: Failed to start PostgreSQL server

/usr/netscreen/DevSvr/var/pgsql/data/psql.log contains:

FATAL:  could not create lock file "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432.lock": Permission denied

Solution:

The reason the install fails is because /tmp directory does not have write permissions to start PostGres. During installation a lock file is written to the /tmp directory as "nsm" user.

To resolve the issue, modify the permissions:

chmod 777 /tmp

Restart NSM installation.
