How to confirm if the address book entry is correct

Summary:
This article provides information on how to confirm if the address book entry is correct, when the tunnel is not active or the traffic is not passing data.
Symptoms:
A VPN policy is configured; but either the tunnel is not becoming active or the traffic is not flowing as desired.
Cause:

Solution:

Step 1. Open the WebUI. For more information refer to KB4060 - Accessing Your NetScreen, SSG, or ISG Firewall Using the WebUI.

Step 2.  In ScreenOS 6.0 and above, the address list can be found under Policy -> Policy Elements -> Addresses -> List. 
In ScreenOS 5.4 and below, the address list can be found under Objects > Addresses > List.

Step 3. Find the Address Book entry in question and click Edit.

Step 4. Verify that the IP Address and Subnet Mask are correct.  The circled address does not match the name indicating there might have been an error.  Correct any mistakes and test the VPN again.

For more information, refer to KB4113 - Configuring an Address Book Entry for the Internal Network. To check this via the CLI (ssh/telnet/console), the command is get address <zone-name> name  <address-name>.

For example:

SSG-5> get address Untrust name 10.2.2.0/24
