Article ID: KB9631 KB Last Updated: 12 Mar 2021Version: 6.0

Note: A product listed in this article has either reached hardware End of Life (EOL) OR software End of Engineering (EOE).  Refer to End of Life Products & Milestones for the EOL, EOE, and End of Support (EOS) dates.

How does GUI client calculate the "Time generated" and "Time Received" columns in the Log Viewer

GUI Client Log viewer converts the time stamps for "Time Received" and " Time Generated" Based on the TIMEZONE of the desktop where GUI Client is launched.

  • Device is setup with time zone EST
  • NSM is setup with time zone PST
  • GUI client is launched on a desktop with time zone CST.

At 12:05 EST device sends a log message to the NSM servers.

NSM server converts this log message received time stamp to 9:05 PST (which is the time zone for the NSM Server)

GUI client displays the time received and time generated for the log message as 11:05 CST (which is the time zone for the GUI client desktop ).
