[ScreenOS] NSM update to device fails with console message "BulkCLI reboot".

Summary:

Attempts to push configuration updates from NSM to the device fails. The device resets, and the update is unsuccessful. The following message appears on the console:

BulkCLI reboot Bulkcli_cb devId=229, domainId=1, sessId=229397, ?Bulkcli_cb.state=5

This article explains what must be done to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

 

Symptoms:

When NSM pushes a configuration to a device, the device should send an acknowledgement back to the NSM server telling it that it got the policy update. However, if the device is unable to send an acknowledgement to the NSM server, the device will reboot, and the original NSM policy update will not occur.

After the device has been rebooted, you will typically see the following message appear on the console:

BulkCLI reboot Bulkcli_cb devId=229, domainId=1, sessId=229397, Bulkcli_cb.state=5

On the NSM server, you should see an error in Job Manager:

Server failed to receive the final status of bulk-cli from device.

 

Solution:

To resolve this problem, investigate why the device may be losing its connection to the NSM server. Once this is resolved, perform another NSM policy update.
