Goal:

  • How to perform offline IDP and Application signature database update in SRX
  • Is there any way to do IDP signature updates on the secondary node in a chassis cluster as the Routing Engine isn't active on the passive node?

Summary:

When the SRX does not have a connection to the Internet to download security package updates, customers need to perform an offline security package download onto the SRX.
The following technical note describes the way to perform an offline IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) and AI (Application Identification) security package update, and it provides steps to update the SRX device locally:

Important:  If you are unable to download the IDP signature package files through a Web browser and get the error 'XML Parsing Error: not well-formed', then refer to the work-around in the 'Known Issue with Security Package download through web browsers' section in the Application note or KB30469.
