Article ID: TSB17127 TECHNICAL_BULLETINS Last Updated: 10 Aug 2017Version: 2.0
Alert Type:
PSN - Product Support Notification
Alert Description:
Junos Software Service Release version 15.1R6-S2 is now available for download from the Junos software download site for EX series switches

Following  incremental PRs have been fixed in 15.1R6-S2 for EX series switches.

PR 1277433 : JDHCPD  Memory Leak with option 82 on EX switches.
When EX switch is configured as dhcp-relay with dhcp option 82 and DHCP server is not reachable JDHCPD continues to leak memory due to bootp discover packets from client.

PR 1283272 : RPD Memory leak when IS-IS protocol is configured.
When EX switch is configured with IS-IS , RPD process starts slowly leaking memory in IS-IS block.

PR 1287184 : ESWD memory leak on interface flapping with STP configured interfaces with GRES/NSB configuration.
When EX switch is configured with STP and GRES/NSB, interface flapping ( link up/down events) would cause ESWD memory leak.

On previous generation EX Series Switches, specifically EX3300, EX4200, EX4500, EX4550, EX6210, EX8208 and EX8216, running 15.1R5 or 15.1R6, system memory might get exhausted due to memory leaks and the switch might require a power cycle or reboot to recover. The PRs causing these memory leaks are documented in this TSB. Due to these PRs, it is recommended to upgrade previous generation EX Series Switches outlined above running 15.1Rx to 15.1R6-S2. Please check KB21476 for a full list of JTAC recommendations.
