Alert Description:

When igmp-snooping and bpdu-block-on-edge are enabled, IP protocol multicast traffic sourced by the kernel such OSPF, VRRP gets dropped in PFE level. This issue is applicable to QFX5100, QFX5110, QFX5200 and EX4600 platforms. This issue is seen in 17.X releases only.

Solution:

When bpdu-block-on-edge is configured, a dynamic filter update is sent to PFE to re-install the port bitmap. During filter entry update in hardware , new filter entry is created first and then old entry is deleted. With this, we have non-contiguous free entry in the PFE TCAM hardware. Now igmp-snooping is enabled, which install another set of filter update which were required to be contiguous in nature and due to previous non-contiguous free entry, the igmp snooping filter updates are NOT programmed in orderly and contiguous fashion. Because of this, all CPU originated IP protocol multicast traffic (OSPF, VRRP etc.) could not be flooded out of the network ports.

This issue is applicable to QFX5100, QFX5110, QFX5200 and EX4600 platforms. This issue is seen in 17.X releases only.
This issue is fixed via PR 1301773. Please refer the PR for more details.
