[Customer Care] How to use the Juniper Update Install Base Tool

This article provides instructions for managing Install Base Updates. The Update Install Base Tool allows authorized Partners and End Users to self-administer changes and inform Juniper about system configuration changes, physical moves to the installed base, or device model upgrades.

When a product is moved, relocated, or the system configuration has been changed, Juniper should be notified to ensure that we are able to meet support coverage and delivery of RMA service-level agreements (SLA). Regularly providing Juniper with an up-to-date record of your installed base will ensure that Juniper's depots are stocked with the correct parts to support you and your customers.

Juniper Networks will not be held accountable for not meeting the hardware replacement service-level agreement for products that are not registered or do not have an accurate install base record.



You have moved your device to a new physical location or changed the system configuration (e.g. added or removed hardware/components). How do you inform Juniper following changes of this nature?



Update Install Location or System Configuration

To update your install base location or system configuration, e.g changes to hardware/components, go to Update Install Base Tool.

Summary of Process

Step 1: In the Update Install Base Tool, select the action(s) you would like to perform:

Step 2: Download and complete the template(s).

Two templates are available (listed below). Depending on the selection in Step 1, either or both templates will be displayed. Download the applicable template(s) from the Update Install Base tool.

  • Install Base Location Update Template 

  • Install Base Configuration Update Template. 

Fill in the template with relevant information. Ensure that the information provided is accurate in order to avoid any delays in processing your request.

Step 3: Upload your completed template file(s) for processing.

To upload the completed template, click Choose File, locate your file, and then select Open.

Step 4: Mandatory field - Provide the authorized contact information.

Enter the authorized contact information. This will enable the Install Base Refresh team to contact you should they have any questions or require further details relating to your submission.

Step 5: Optional field - Provide additional information and submit once completed.

Note: Use the contextual help (tool tips) for further details relating to each field.
