[ScreenOS] How do I enable IPv6 and what devices are supported?

Article ID: KB15692 KB Last Updated: 25 May 2019Version: 3.0

This article describes how to enable IPv6 on the ScreenOS firewalls, and what devices support IPv6.

IPv6 can be enabled only on the CLI, with the following command:

set envar ipv6=yes

After setting this command, the firewall will need to be reset to activate this feature.

To confirm that IPv6 is enabled after the firewall is reset, run the command:

get envar

You will see a line on the envar output that confirms that IPv6 is enabled:

After this option is set, IPv6 addressing, routing and commands will be available to use. Refer to your specific Concepts and Examples ScreenOS Reference Guide: Volume 7, Routing, for more information on configuring IPv6.

Note: IPv6 support was introduced in ScreenOS 5.3 and above.  (Refer to the ScreenOS End-of-Life and the Netscreen Hardware End-of-Life pages for information about discontinued hardware and ScreenOS versions.)
