[ScreenOS] Can I modify MIP on the fly without deleting the associated policy?

Article ID: KB6659 KB Last Updated: 27 Dec 2017Version: 4.0
Can I modify MIP on the fly without deleting the associated policy?
  • Need to modify MIP to another host
  • Repoint MIP to another host on the trust network
  • Need to modify MIP in real-time
  • Want to change the host computer defined on MIP but cannot
  • No option to edit or remove an existing mapping on MIP
  • Unable to remove a MIP
  • MIP is 'in use'

Once a Mapped IP (MIP) is used in a policy, no changes can be made to the MIP as long as it is associated to an incoming policy.

To redirect the MIP to another internal host IP or delete/modify the MIP configuration you will need to delete the associating policy first OR temporarily replace the MIP address in the policy with another address. This will unbind the MIP. After the MIP is unbound you can modify it.  Then create a new policy to associate with it, or edit the previous policy and replace the temporary address with the MIP.
